WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE THE SCHNAUZER BREED?

As a family, we had a previous dog, who was a cross breed terrier, after he had passed away, we wanted a dog, who was a family friendly, non shedding dog, (As many dog owners know, dog hair gets everywhere, really everywhere ) who had character, we had done some research online and used some of those “what’s the right pet for you” websites, Schnauzer kept popping up all the time.  Once the image of a Schnauzer was in our minds it was hard to think of anything else.  The Beard, Ears and those fancy trousers, the whole family agreed this was the bread for us.

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL STORY

We found Enzo (or Green) on a pets for sale website, local to where we live, we did a little research, and asked a few questions of the breeder, and arranged to see “Green” as a whole family, the Breeder told us that Green had been reserved, but the new owners had failed to collect him when he was 12 weeks, so he was now available for homing, at the time we didn’t know that Green had a deformed ear. We believe the original buyers had spotted that Green was in fact the runt of the litter, to us he was just had a ball of fur, that had so much energy and a character about him.

We believe the original buyers, were looking for a stud or show dog, we had no interest in breeding, we wanted a family companion.  Our youngest son was instantly smitten by this little puppy, with was a huge relief to us as he hadn’t gotten on with our previous dog.

Enzo has he has now become, is all we expected, a fun, loving and very cheeky member of the family.

We started up his own Instagram account, as a way to share his and our journey, this has become his very own way to share his adventures, and we don’t get too much of a mention these days.

It was via Instagram, that we learnt about Schnauzerfest and as a result we have found new friends and a new cause to support and bring the plight of puppy dog farms to people.  Enzo has become a bit of a poster boy for the Schnauzerfest charity, as we are asked to provide some of his images for their social media and fund raising projects.

WHAT QUIRKS DO THEY HAVE?

When playing, Enzo will spin round to show you his bottom.
If he wants something, he will go to Jane (Mum) who will call the relevant ‘hooman’.

Each morning he goes round to Jane’s side of the bed to ask for permission to jump up but will then walk round to Dean’s side to jump up.

When going for a walk, if he falls behind, he will then catch us up but he has to walk straight down the middle between us all.

Every evening Enzo lets Dean know that he has to sit on the floor where he then lies between his legs where he rolls over for a belly rub and a tickle of his pads.

HOW MANY NICKNAMES DO YOUR SCHNAUZER HAVE AND WHAT ARE THEY?

Enz, Enzy, gorgeous boy. From Dean- four legged shit machine, from Jane- Booboos, Moo-moos, Munchy Moos, Cucciolo Splendido (gorgeous puppy, the breeder was Italian and taught me a couple of phrases) Bel ragazzo

WHAT ARE THE MOST SCHNAUZER-ISH CHARACTERISTICS IN YOUR SCHNAUZER?

He is loyal, always wants to have fun, stubborn, barks at visitors, a master of manipulation, brave and fearless around large dogs (his best pals are a Great Dane and a Rottweiler)

Steals socks and runs off with them.

Mostly Dean but Jane has to organise everyone to Enzo’s needs, Jake the youngest is the Entertainment Manager, Toby the eldest is his Food Technician, Jane is Health and Well-being and Dean is his Social and Marketing Manager.

Any green space where he can go off lead.

Red Dinosaur Toy and ‘ring the bell’ game

Anything Dean is eating.

WHERE IS THEIR FAVOURITE SPOT IN THE HOUSE?

Whichever seat the hoomans vacate.
